About this gallery:

I have watched an ever centralized and broken Internet result in a deep loss of images being shared with others. I have reached my final straw over Instagram and Pinterest. After the losses of Photobucket, TinyPic, ImageShack, etc I have grown more concerned about the state of images online in English speaking spaces. Additionally, tumblr is impossible to properly image search through via tags and gets resized. I also find the state of Pinterest to be really embarrassing and impossible to search through. IG images are horribly cropped and have zero way to search without images from previous years being buried. Currently, things are managed and kept by Russians in ways that is closed off from most others to understand or find out exists. This is really sad! I want to try to fix this language barrier and remove this issue. I also wish to preserve images at the best available instead of whatever these aforementioned sites do to degrade them. Many images are already suffering artifacting damages that do not need to be made worse.

This website is largely my fan curated gallery collection of Paul images from my personal hoard. It will take me a long time to publish everything. This is a work in progress and project for me, foremost. I enjoy processing and sorting large amounts of data. My promise is: you will definitely browse this site and realize how many Paul images you have never seen before. In the spirit of Rammimages, I have made a compilation of his text based interviews 😊

FAQ

Q. How do I download the higher resolution stated on the image page? Right click save gives me a small version!

A. Please use the download file button.

Browsing galleries displays medium sized thumbnails to prevent bandwidth excess due to modern era photos sometimes being 2MB or higher. It would be inefficient to have everyone loading 2MB+ images from such galleries while browsing.

Q. [This photo] is missing from the album! Should I tell you to add it?

A. Currently, this site is a massive work in progress. There's likely many images not sorted and displayed at this time. However, yeah if you want to send me your folders you personally have - I wouldn't mind. Just zip the folder and pass me the download link. No need to organize it or remove any duplicates! I can do that myself faster than you could. (I use a program.) Just send me your messy folders with whatever you think is missing or helpful. My contact info is on the left sidebar.

If you can help, I do have a plea of known missing images you can assist with.

Q. I have actual photos I took myself with my own camera or phone. I would like to submit them to you.

A. Please email, Discord/IG DM me about it. I accept anything you want to contribute.

Q. Your image caches have been improperly hotlinked on Pinterest or some other site and don't work.

A. Good. Don't hotlink me that way. If you want to post from me, link the URL not the image.

Yes ✅ = https://gallery.whiteribbon.blog/picture.php?/2549/category/53
No ❌ = https://gallery.whiteribbon.blog/_data/i/galleries/2003-06/official_promo/aca063bc0ba4733cbb5e4f4c0d625c6eb-me.jpg

Q. Can I hotlink?

A. No. Please do not do this! You will get an error if you do it. You can link the photo URL page, but not the direct jpg. Like the above example, you can do that but do not link the photo itself. I cannot afford to host your bandwidth traffic because I do this out of my own pocket. It would cost me the need to upgrade servers to have such traffic or be overbearing on a shared server.

Q. I run another R+ fansite of some kind. Can I contact you or work with you?

A. Yeah. I don't know what you might have in mind. I am open to hearing anything. Send me an email or Discord request for instant chat. I am highly skilled at identifying Paul media visually. I may be useful to you to assist with video identification of time periods or other images. I'd be willing to work with you if you want me to assist.

Q. How do you know for sure this image of him is LIFAD and not MiG/WHDT tour? He looks the same.

A. Skill issue. Truthfully, he is not the same. I figured out how to tell the difference. I developed a method to the two tours chaos.

Q. You don't have people tags for images of him with his children.

A. I know. I won't do it. That's a boundary to me. They are in the gallery, but not tagged. Figure out that on your own. (They look just like him...)

Q. Why do you pick the album thumbnails to be what they are?

It's just my preference or maybe a quirky reference. (ie 2007-14's meet and greet folder has the shark in his hands.) I prefer to pick a landscape image if I can. As for the main index, I wanted to pick images that reflect the album cover in the background sometimes. You can see Mutter, Rosenrot, and the LIFAD on in the background. You feel me now? None of the Reise, Reise images looked good on the index. (Which bugs me.) As for the other albums, I don't know. I tried to capture something from the time period that was easily recognizable by glancing and still landscape. With the 2018-2026 folder I liked his IG photo with the stage design in the background. It tells you what time period it is! For 2015-17, I picked the Heine photos taken on the rooftop as those were taken mid-tour cycle. Picking Heine's December 1997 photo from Las Vegas is 100% my own mental bias to how much I love that range of time specifically out of any 90s moment. (My mind is thinking of April 97 to roughly April 98 for the magical range of time I'm fixating on.) When I pick something for the live concert images, I try to choose something landscape with a medium close-up of him not too far away that shows the stage just a bit in the back.

Q. Why did you do this work? Why are you doing this? This costs money to do, so why?

A. Well the monetary costs isn't that bad. It costs me total under $100 USD. Even when my domain renews, the increase in cost is an additional $12. I enjoy a man standing (or sitting) in jpegs. With and without guitar. I really, truly do. I simply love looking at Paul inside a photo (or IRL). Am I that easygoing about this? Yeah. I want to look at him in a photograph. I like looking at him existing. There's no deeper concept for why I made a gallery. In some sense, it was selfish of me because I wanted images of him to be browse-able without a gallery application on a desktop or tablet. I don't like the thumbnails on my tablet and desktop is so clunky with Windows. The thumbnails and sizes are never satisfying. Especially when images are high resolution. Even with external programs, I really am unsatisfied with browsing from a method I actually enjoy. This website is also my own wants and desires for my browsing comfort. I figured I might as well let others access it too. This is why aesthetically, it's for myself in dark mode. In the future, I'd like to customize the CSS further for myself.

Q. Why do you care about hotlinking? Isn't bandwidth a thing of the past?

A. No, it still matters in the case of high end images like this sometimes. If the site wasn't image and PHP based, I would agree. My host allows a lot of bandwidth usage, but they have limits due to me being on a shared sever. If everyone goes free for all mode, it may jeopardize my host to cut me off or penalize me. They would demand I pay for a dedicated server, which costs more. Pinterest bandwidth, for one example, is a risk I can't take from clickable traffic. That's why I say use the full URL of the photo. It's less intense due to thumbnail sizes. (Mainly relevant to bigger images in modern eras.) It's also a bad practice because you never know when a domain or host will vanish. Rehosting someone linking like 1000 images and having a large amount of page views would slowly become a problem. And what if I changed URLs? All their links would break and hurt their site too. That's why it's not a good practice in general.

Q. How did you memorize photos to time periods? How did you learn to do this?

A. This is complicated.

Easy answer: having watched Paul exist through time. I remember when photos were new. This isn't hindsight to me for chunks of it. I have been watching him exist since 2006. The photos from 2011 are something I remember in real-time as they happened, you know?

Silly answer: have you ever memorized a man's jewelry? I think you'd be shocked to realize certain time periods can be clocked via jewelry. (example: do you see a black earring left ear? only 2010. pearl necklace? 2022 and 2024.) On that same note, Paul repeats his clothes for chunks of time and becomes obsessed with specific items/accessories. his fashion sometimes is the giveaway answer. He has necklaces that correlate to certain times. Also, I'm gonna be so honest and say the forbidden knowledge: he really does change his haircut and facial hair sometimes lmao. It's not "all the same", actually.

Complicated answer: I have a tendency and high skill for sorting large amounts of data inside my mind. I am good at perceiving patterns visually. I am a visual learner and seeing via example. I overly fixate on staring at, in-taking, and key checking minutiae from them no one else bothers with.
